Proper Bottling Tips
Select the stopper to suit the bottle neck profile, wine and intended storage period. Ask RCS to review the bottle drawing or samples before a full bottling run.
Keep unopened bags in a clean, odour-free area, away from sunlight, preferably at 15–22 °C and 60–70% relative humidity. Follow the use-by period stated on the order or packaging. Keep bags sealed until use. Do not boil, soak, steam or spray ready-to-use stoppers.
Bottle necks and corking equipment should be clean and dry. Inspect and maintain the jaws according to the equipment manufacturer’s instructions. Compression of a 24 mm stopper should not reduce its diameter below approximately 15.5–16 mm.
At the reference filling temperature, allow approximately 15–20 mm between the wine and the lower end of the stopper. Validate headspace and any vacuum settings for the actual bottle, wine and closure.
Keep bottles upright for at least 10 minutes after corking; 30 minutes or longer is preferable where the process allows. Check insertion depth, damage, extraction and leakage.
Avoid extreme temperatures and rapid temperature changes in storage and transport. These are general recommendations; confirm settings for your actual bottling line with RCS.
